Chuck Griffith will present an extensive talk on the Shakers, their history and lifestyle and their timeless designs. Mr. Griffith has been making furniture since 1968, but became interested in the Shakers in the mid-1980's. So interested that he learned how to hand-cut dovetails and make Shaker oval boxes. The making of Shaker furniture followed and much of his work has appeared in Fine Woodworking magazine. In 2009 he was the winner of a competition on Shaker furniture sponsored by the magazine. He now makes furniture on commission. His work may be seen at www.shakertofit.com and a few pieces will be on display. Refreshments will be served.
