Algonkian, Dutch, and English

Early Colonial Settlement and the First Deeds

Join us at 4:00pm on Saturday November 8th at the Pound Ridge Museum for “Eight Coats, Seven Shirts, Fifteen Fathom Wampum: Early Colonial Settlement and the First Deeds” presented by Algonkian interpreter and cultural ambassador Drew Shuptar-Rayvis.

Through engaging living history interpretation, this program will explore the complex relationships between the Dutch, English, and Algonkian people. It will track the adaptation of Native American life to European settlement, consider the culture clashes experienced through war, adoption, marriage, and friendship between the Native, European, and African communities, and discuss early colonial conflicts, such as Keift’s War.

This interactive program is geared towards both adults and children 8+. We hope to see you there!
